Transcorp Hotels Plc has announced the appointment of Mrs. Uzo Oshogwe as the new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO), effective January 1, 2025.
Mrs. Oshogwe, who is currently the MD/CEO of Afriland Properties Ltd, brings over 30 years of experience to her new role at Transcorp Hotels. She succeeds Mrs. Dupe Olusola, who recently stepped down after serving as the MD/CEO since March 25, 2020. Before joining Transcorp Hotels, Dupe Olusola was the Group Head of Marketing at United Bank for Africa Plc.
Mrs. Oshogwe’s professional background includes leadership positions at United Bank for Africa Plc and Accenture UK. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Ambrose Alli University in Edo State and a Master’s degree in Information Systems Design from the University of Westminster in London. Additionally, she holds a professional certificate in Real Estate Management from Harvard Business School, USA.
She is also a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants and a RICS-accredited Civil and Commercial Mediator. Mrs. Oshogwe has completed several prestigious executive programs, including the Advanced Management Programme (AMP) at Lagos Business School and the Chief Executive Programme at IESE Business School, Spain.
Afriland Properties, under her leadership, saw a significant increase in revenue, reporting a 150% rise to N4.72 billion in the most recent financial year, along with a 34% increase in Profit Before Tax (PBT) to N2.41 billion.
The appointment comes as Transcorp Hotels Plc aims to expand its footprint in Nigeria’s hospitality sector. The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Emmanuel N. Nnorom, expressed confidence in Mrs. Oshogwe’s ability to continue the company’s growth and success, building on the accomplishments of her predecessor, Mrs. Dupe Olusola.
Mrs. Oshogwe is expected to further strengthen Transcorp Hotels’ position as a leading player in Nigeria’s hospitality industry. Under her leadership, the company’s share price rose by 51% in 2023, making it one of the best-performing stocks that year.
