Social critic Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has apologized to the Nigeria Police Force for wearing a police uniform in a recent video.
IDOMA VOICE reported that the police condemned his unauthorized use of the uniform and investigated the incident.
In the video, VeryDarkMan humorously introduced himself as a “Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) of the Online Division” while wearing police attire.
Following public backlash, he issued an apology video on Thursday, expressing regret for wearing clothing that resembled an official police uniform.
Addressing the situation, he said, “After being questioned at the police station, I want to clarify that I had no intention of impersonating the police and offer my sincere apologies to the Nigeria Police Force and the office of the Inspector General of Police.”
He further advised Nigerians to seek proper authorization before wearing police attire to avoid potential misunderstandings or legal consequences.
He added, “While some may use it with good intentions, others might misuse it. It’s best to get approval before wearing anything that resembles official uniforms.” He also thanked his lawyer, Adeyanju Deji, for his support.
