VeryDarkMan defends his actions, rejects apology demand from Falana, Falz

Ahead of the court hearing for a defamation lawsuit filed against him, popular social media critic VeryDarkMan (VDM) has denied accusations of defaming human rights lawyer Femi Falana and his son, musician Falz.

In September, VDM shared a leaked audio in which crossdresser Bobrisky allegedly implicated Falz and his father. The audio claimed that Falz and Falana contacted Bobrisky while he was incarcerated at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre, offering him N10 million to facilitate a “presidential pardon.”

Both Falana and Falz have denied the allegations and demanded an apology, labeling VDM’s post as defamatory. They gave him a 24-hour deadline to retract the statement, but after VDM failed to comply, the Lagos State High Court ordered him to delete the post in preparation for the court hearing scheduled for Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the Ikeja High Court.

In response, VDM posted a new video on his Instagram, reiterating that he would not apologize. He stated that his intention was to expose corruption in Nigeria and suggested that Falana and Falz clear their names.

“I just arrived in Lagos for the Femi Falana case at the Ikeja High Court at 9:00 AM. As you all know, they (Falana and Falz) claim I defamed them, but for me, I exposed corruption. I see things that don’t make sense, like someone not serving their jail term or the EFCC, which should catch corrupt individuals, collecting money.

“That’s what I exposed. But sadly, Falana and Falz, whose names were mentioned, said I should have informed them before posting. They asked me to apologize, but I don’t see anything wrong with what I did, so I’m not apologizing. They should clear their names.

“I’ve tried to respect them, but when I went to Falana to apologize, they insisted I must go and apologize publicly. Now the court hearing is here, and nothing is going to happen. If I hear their names again tomorrow, I will post it. I don’t fear anyone. I don’t want a country where we keep quiet when corruption is involved just because of someone’s status.”
