Veteran Nigerian Juju singer Peter Akanni has passed away at the age of 74

Peter Akanni Akorede, the veteran Juju musician famously known as Emperor Pick Peter of the ‘Omode de’ fame, is dead.

Emperor Pick Peter, aged 74, reportedly succumbed to a brief illness and breathed his last on Thursday.

The news of his passing was confirmed by Bimbo Esho, a well-known music promoter and the head of Evergreen Music, in a Facebook post. She expressed, “Omo Ode Ti Ku – The Hunter’s Son is Dead.”

“His name should ring bell to all lovers of Juju Music. Emperor Pick Peters one of Nigeria’s great Juju musicians, succumbed to the cold hands of death today in Abeokuta at age 74.

“May his Gentle Soul rest in peace.”
