Video of Tinubu’s fuel price reduction pledges resurfaces online
An old video of President Bola Tinubu campaigning in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on January 25, 2023, has gone viral online, capturing him promising a reduction in fuel prices upon assuming office as president. Speaking in Yoruba, Tinubu assured the crowd of an easier life under his leadership and vowed to address the issue of fuel supply permanently.
Fast forward to the present, just two months after assuming office, there has been another hike in fuel prices, with the latest increase raising it to N617 from N197. This comes after Tinubu removed fuel subsidy, resulting in fuel being sold at N537 per litre shortly after his inauguration.
Despite the recent fuel price hike, the resurfaced video has sparked conversations about the President’s past assurances and promises to bring down the cost of fuel. Tinubu had confidently told his supporters that they would crash the prices and address the fuel crisis.
Amidst speculations and concerns surrounding fuel prices, Tinubu’s supporters recall his rally statements, assuring them that no matter the obstacles, they would vote and emerge victorious in the elections. He expressed his confidence in overcoming any challenges thrown their way by the opposition.
As the video continues to circulate on social media, people are closely watching to see if President Tinubu will fulfill his campaign promises of reducing fuel prices and addressing the nation’s energy challenges. The video serves as a reminder of his commitment to the Nigerian people during the election campaign and raises expectations for the government’s actions moving forward.
