Video of woman’s harsh treatment of children playing football sparks public outcry

A video depicting the appalling treatment of three children by an unidentified woman in Ogun State has triggered outrage on social media. The distressing footage shows the woman whipping and handcuffing the youngsters, alleging that they had kicked a football into her compound.

In the video shared on social media, the woman can be seen first physically assaulting the boys, all the while threatening to have them arrested. She even went so far as to make one of the boys lie down and remove his hands from his face, despite his pleas to stop, citing his recent recovery from an illness.

Following this, she forced them to sit in a puddle before handcuffing all three boys and leading them away. The incident reportedly took place in Sango Ota, Ogun State, according to the user who posted the video on a platform like X (formerly Twitter).

The user’s tweet included a call to the attention of the Ogun State Police and local authorities: “Attention: @OgunPoliceNG @Princemoye1. Their only offence was playing football in her compound, and they attempted to retrieve it. She beat them, put them in the puddle, and proceeded to handcuff them. Location: Salvation Estate Co. Oil Sango-ota.”

The online community expressed strong disapproval of the woman’s actions, with many demanding her arrest. One user, Certified Kim, expressed disbelief, saying, “Just football??? I don’t believe this. How will she treat them like this just for playing football? I am boiling now.”

Another user, Tubosunn, called for legal action, stating, “This woman needs to go to jail for this? And she must be barren to have treated children like that because she can never know the love of children. Just hope she is dealt with, plus where are the parents of these children? They need to press charges for these gross evil.”

Peter_ezuma1 criticized the woman’s actions, remarking, “That woman is heartless and should not be considered a mother because if she has children, she won’t do that. Children in the neighborhood love football, and it will definitely get into another compound.”

Tipsy Odds raised questions about the woman’s actions, inquiring whether she was a police officer and whether she had called the police. He also emphasized the importance of the legal process, stating, “If the punishment was because they played football in her compound, the law would have to take its course.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and stated that legal proceedings were underway. “The case is now in court,” she confirmed in a brief SMS response.
