The village head of Sarkin Noma, Ero Yaro, has been arrested by the Nasarawa State Police Command over his alleged role in a midnight attack on the community that left two people dead and one person abducted.

The Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the arrest to journalists in Lafia.

“Information was received that unknown gunmen invaded Sarkin Noma Village, abducting one person and shooting two others dead. Acting on this, the Commissioner of Police deployed operatives from Kadarko Division, who combed the bush and arrested 45-year-old Ero Yaro in connection with the crime,” Nansel said.

In response, the Nasarawa State government pledged to deal decisively with the perpetrators. In a statement issued by the Senior Special Adviser on Public Affairs, Comrade Peter Ahemba, the government warned of the growing infiltration of criminal elements across the state, which poses a serious security threat.

“We condemn in the strongest terms the recent midnight attack in Sarkin Noma, Keana Local Government Area, and similar incidents. The state government will not allow enemies of peace to succeed. Security agencies have been directed to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators without delay,” the statement read.

Residents were assured that the government is working closely with security agencies and local stakeholders to enhance security measures. Citizens have also been urged to provide information that could help authorities apprehend criminals operating across the state.
