Villagers desert Enugu community as gunmen kill vigilante commander, Christopher Ede

Unknown gunmen have shot and killed the vigilante commander of Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The deceased identified as Christopher Ede was reportedly shot dead at Akpawfu market square.

He was said to be drinking with some friends at the market square when the Gunmen arrived in two motorcycles and started shooting.

They were said to have identified their target and shot at him severally before speeding off the bike.

The incident which happened Thursday last week attracted the police who stormed the community and made several arrests forcing villagers to flee.

The traditional ruler of the Community, Igwe Dume Nnamoko said that his community is currently deserted.

He suggested that the people may have fled for fear of arrest. “This is the situation we are in my brother,” he said.

His second-in-command identified as Cletus Nwanagu was said to have been taken away but this could not be confirmed at the time of this report.
