Violence erupts at PDP secretariat in Port Harcourt as Fubara, Wike loyalists clash

Supporters of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), believed to be loyal to Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, and the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, clashed at the party’s Secretariat in Port Harcourt on Friday.

The confrontation led to gunfire around the PDP Secretariat, located along the Port Harcourt-Aba Expressway.

While some witnesses speculated that the shots were fired by security personnel who have been stationed at the facility since a court ruling ousted Aaron Chukwuemeka’s executive members, others claimed political thugs were responsible for the violence.

Sources revealed that Fubara’s supporters, who had been removed from the office by security forces following the court’s decision, attempted to regain control of the premises on Friday morning.

This sparked a confrontation with another group of PDP loyalists, said to be aligned with the former governor, leading to a violent clash and several gunshots being fired.
