The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is scheduled to release the results of the May/June 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) today, Monday, August 12th, 2024.

According to The Sun, Mrs. Moyosola Adesina, WAEC’s acting Head of Public Affairs, stated that Dr. Amos Dangut, the Head of the National Office (HNO), will officially announce the release of the May/June 2024 WASSCE results at the WAEC headquarters in Yaba.

The results are being released 45 days after the completion of the final exam.

It is recalled that in April 2024, Dr. Dangut mentioned that of the 1.8 million students who took the exam, 902,328 (49.73%) were male, and 912,016 (50.27%) were female. He noted that the candidates were examined in 76 subjects, comprising 197 papers, with 30,000 secondary school teachers overseeing the examination.

Dr. Dangut further explained: “In line with our recent tradition, the results of candidates will be released 45 days after the last exam paper, and certificates will be printed and distributed to schools within 90 days of the results’ release.”

He also highlighted that the results would be accompanied by digital copies of candidates’ certificates, which will be accessible through the digital certificate platform.

As universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education have already begun the 2024 admission process following the conclusion of the education policy meeting, the release of the WASSCE results will be crucial for many candidates hoping to secure admission during this period.

IDOMA VOICE reports that some institutions have already commenced the admission process, with dates set for the Post-UTME screening tests.
