The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a suspected thief linked to a syndicate involved in warehouse thefts across the metropolis.

The suspect, Ukasha Adamu, 23, a resident of Ajiya Adamu Road in Bauchi, was apprehended on November 11, 2024, following an investigation by the State Intelligence Department (SID).

In a statement on Monday, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the command’s spokesperson, disclosed that Adamu and his accomplices used fabricated keys to break into warehouses and steal valuable goods.

Recovered items from the operation include 150 bags of parboiled rice, 43 cartons of spaghetti, 20 cartons of vegetable oil, and 42 cartons of liquid fertilizer, with an estimated total value of over ₦13.25 million.

In a separate operation, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), led by CSP Suleiman M. Tambuwal, arrested a suspected dealer of harmful substances at Tudun Wadan Dan Iya in Bayan Gari.

The suspect, Kabiru Adamu, was caught with hundreds of bottles and containers of dangerous chemicals, including methylene chloride, commonly referred to as “Suck and Die.” According to the police, the substances were sold at low prices, ranging from ₦250 to ₦300 per unit.

Kabiru confessed to working under a supervisor and distributing the items for payment.

The Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Mohammed, has ordered a thorough investigation into both cases, emphasizing the need to prosecute the suspects and apprehend other members of the syndicates involved.
