‘We lure them with biscuits or egg’ – Kidnappers reveal how they steal children

In a trending video stumbled on today December 9,2020, is that of a particular two man gang who specializes in kidnapping and selling off of children, who are in turn resold to people who are in need of children. Two people were arrested by the Rapid Respond Squad, a unit of the Nigeria Police Force, that helps in curbing crimes in the society. They caught a two man syndicate who are into stealing children and reselling them for a paltry sum of money, a man who over the years have been in this horrendous act, was nabbed alongside his accomplice.

He claimed that whenever he wants to steal these children, who are 2years of age, he would lure them with biscuits or egg and that way the children would allow him carry them and from there he would jump on a motorcycle and off he goes to sell them. He says he usually steals them from Aba in Avia State and sells them between N100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) and N200,000 (Two Hundred Thousand Naira) to a woman in Portharcourt, Rivers State. Who would now resell them to the family those children would now belong to.

The officer then asked the man if he has his own children, he responded in the affirmative yes but couldn’t sell his children but would rather make other parents cry over their own children. The younger boy with him, allude to being a partner in the wicked business, and each time he does help with stealing a child, he gets paid N50,000 (Fifty Thousand Naira). The last one he did, was in helping him stealing a neighbour’s child who was playing in his mother’s shop, he stole the child and after being paid, he left Aba and ran to Owerri to start his life afresh, which is where the Police arrested him from.
