We’re protesting, not striking – BSU ASUU chairman debunks rumour

The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Benue State University Chapter, Dr Kwaehfan Tarmombo, has dismissed rumours that the lecturers of the institution have downed tools.

IDOMA VOICE earlier reported that a senior lecturer in the department of Mass Communication, John Orgi, posted on his official Facebook page that the lecturers are on strike.

But according to the ASUU chairman the lecturers are protesting the non payment of salaries and allowances, and not on strike as being speculated.

“We are not on strike; we are only protesting the payment of our salary. Salary of March was paid on April 20 but up till now we have not received any other salary”, DAILY POST quoted Dr. Tarmombo as saying.

However, some students of the university, who spoke with our correspondent, said no lecture was going on in the school premises.
