West Brom defender Semi Ajayi will be out of action for at least six weeks after he was forced to have surgery on an ankle injury.
The Nigerian international is thought to be able to return before the Championship pauses for the World Cup in Qatar which is due to start on 20 November.
The valiant centre-back was forced off in West Brom’s clash against Wigan Athletic and the club’s manager, Steve Bruce has now confirmed that the centre-back has undergone surgery and will be missing in action for a while.
“Semi has had an operation, We’ve listened to specialists and they’ve advised us that was the best thing to do going forward,” West Brom manager, Steve Bruce said in the pre match press conference of West Brom versus Birmingham City.
“We’re expecting him to be out for another six weeks but these things can change.”
Ajayi is now expected to miss Nigeria’s upcoming international friendlies against the Desert Foxes of Algeria but should be available for the November game against Portugal.
