Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential Flagbearer during the Wednesday, January 30th, 2019 NG candidate programme of Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) has reveal what he will do to curb the menace between farmers and herders crisis nationwide if elected president.

Atiku during the course of the programme said ” I think we need to look at establishing feeding lots because that’s the best practice. There are companies producing cattle feeds in the country and when cattle are kept in one place, they produce more meat and milk”. Is this not Ranching?

On whether the herders will accept the change.

He said “it is not going to be instantly but with continuous sensitization, they will come to understand that it benefits them more. Even when we started normadic education, they resisted but one of them is a PhD holder working with me now. It is going to be more expensive but it will even be more profitable to them”.

The PDP presidential candidate, when asked about what he will do about states who have signed Anti Open grazing laws clearly prohibiting Herders to reside in their states?

Atiku’s answered saying “then we will have to look at the constitutional legality of those laws. Citizens have the freedom of movement and right to reside in other states of the country”.
