What Gbajabiamila, Akume told David Mark’s daughter, Blessing Onuh as she defects to APC i n Otukpo

Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs and APC Leader in North Central Nigeria, Senator Dr George Akume has again assured decampees that the All Progressives Congress (APC) does not discriminate against joiners as newcomers but rather treats them with equal opportunities.

Senator Akume gave this assurance today during a defection ceremony in honour of Hon. Lady Blessing Onyeche Onuh, daughter of former Senate President, His Excellency, Senator David Mark at St. Mary’s Primary School, Otukpo.

He said Hon. Lady Onuh has been a fervent party woman with large followership, urging her to support President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC to succeed. He also praised the Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila for coming all the way to honour this worthy daughter of Benue.

Welcoming the Member representing Otukpo/ Ohimini into the APC, Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila who extolled the sterling leadership qualities of Lady Onuh said, though a first timer, her contributions to debates on the floor of the house have been awesome.

The Honourable Speaker noted that the Otukpo/ Ohimini representative has huge passion for her people and has always found a way of factoring the challenges of her constituents into all discussions at the National Assembly.

The Speaker acknowledged that though he has witnessed several decamping ceremonies, the crowd he saw in Otukpo was more intimidating, a pointer that Lady Onuh was truly connected to her constituents.

Earlier in his opening speech, Chairman of the occasion, Senator Dr Jack Tilley Gyado described Lady Onuh as a cherished bride with valuable addition to the APC, calling on all party members to embrace her decision to join the broom party.

Also speaking, Benue State Caretaker Chairman of the APC, Comrade Prince Emmanuel Abba Yaro welcomed the decampees into the party , assuring them of all necessary support while the 2019 Deputy Governorship Candidate of the APC in Benue, Hon. Dr. Sam Ode who spoke on behalf of Zone C stakeholders expressed happiness that Lady Onuh has joined APC, promising the support of all stakeholders of the area.

In her closing remarks, Lady Blessing Onuh said as a humanitarian herself, she was inspired by President Muhammadu Buhari’s programmes that purely target the masses to join the APC.

She said the President has shown a fatherly leadership disposition and she has come to support his administration and also contribute her quota.

She announced her formal defection from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the All Progressives Congress with over 17 thousand supporters from different political parties and commended the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Senator Dr George Akume and other leaders for attending the ceremony.

The occasion which was attended by almost all APC stakeholders in Benue also witnessed the decoration of key dignitaries in Idoma traditional regalia, calisthenic displays and cultural dances.
