Mr. Paul Idah popularly known as Aple has responded to the claims that he attacked Usman Abubakar AKA Young Alhaji, a Benue South Senatorial candidate.
Mr Aple in an interview with newsmen in Otukpo disclosed that “I’m surprised that someone who ordered a police man to shoot at me went live on radio to say that I was motivated by his opponent to attack him.
“For those who care to know the truth, this is what really transpired between me and him (Young Alhaji) on Tuesday evening.
“I was returning home that day when I bump into their convoy that was going straight on the one way along the defunct Eco bank and off Amstrong Avenue, so I used the round about to get ahead of them.
“The next thing I heard was I should park, then I said park for what?
“The other thing I heard was gunshots. So I decided to accelerate. I was not with anyone in the car though but I heard Alhaji said I was with Gani.
“I Kept accelerating as they continue to shoot at me, as I ran through Living Faith Church road towards Babylon and Ojira.
“I noticed that my right front tire was already hit by a bullet but I kept on going as they continue to shoot.
“The people in these areas who saw what happened that day can attest to this.
“I managed to get to Traffic junction at Ojira junction where they stopped shooting because the place was highly populated by the people at the market.
“I entered the one way along Amusa phermacy at the market where I knocked down an Okada man but couldn’t stop to say sorry because my life was at risk.
” I went through New market road to Ogiri Oko street and and Ibadan street as they resumed shooting sporadically towards me until I got to Upu road, then to my street at Igbanonmaje where I stopped and they came and parked right behind my car and the man that was driving came down and said why did I over took their convoy?
“Before I could answer, the police officer who has been shooting at me went further to shoot three more times into the air. Then Alhaji came down to say that ‘Aple is it you? I never knew that you were the one o. I thought it was one of this reckless Igbo or Tiv people in the town here.
“Residents came and wanted to lynch them but we’re resisted by some members of our vigilante group. Young Alhaji literally apologized to me and gave N30, 000 to Mr. Ochedikwu Aduma for me to replace my tyres. I went to the police station made an entry at the police station that same evening.
“Young Alhaji who pleaded with me to forgive him went to joy FM the following day to say that I was sponsored by Comrade Abba Moro to attack him. I find it very funny but pathetic that someone who wants to pilot the affairs of the entire Idoma nation is acting in a very reckless way.
“If he (Young Alhaji) must know, he is the least candidate for that position. Why should I or any other person who is not in his camp worry about him that has been a epitome of failure all his life.
“I want people to think about this carefully, How can any logical person pay someone that attacked him 30k for damages?
“He claimed that I attacked him and he didn’t go to the police to report me but went on radio to propagate cheap propaganda. He is not a threat to anyone, he has been failing over the years and should not use me as a bait this year.
“People should please help me ask him to reveal what I attacked him with and what damage did I do to him, those around him or their car?
He lied that he was not with any police officer, then who did the shooting with the AK47? I have details of everything thing but won’t waste my energy on Someone like Alhaji, the police he used that day came from Ikeja in Lagos, he is popularly called Fela and his village is Adoka in Otukpo here. The police was on an Illegal duty here because I was told at the police station that he never came to book his arrival at the station.
I have details of a man that was hit by a missing bullet that day too. I have pictures and recording of the man’s conversations with my younger brother. ” He added.
