What Tom Aba told me before he died –Apostle Godshield Orokpo

Many decades after the demise of legendary Idoma music minster, Tom Aba, Ahama No Checho crooner and Apostle of the High, Godshiled Orokpo, is yet to forget his memories.
Orokpo who now oversees Praise Court International Church, one of the fastest growing Pentecostal churches in Uganda believes that the legacy of the late singer would never fade away.

Speaking with IDOMA VOICE from his Kampala home, the iconic reggae songster reminisced: “He told me to maximise my whole potential before I leave this world and make sure I sing all the songs God has put inside of me because life is very short.
“A week before his death he was to begin the production of my first English album entitled Holy Ghost Style at his studio in Makurdi, Sun shine studio located at the present Mr Biggs building by the railway round about in Makurdi.
“The following week he couldn’t come to the studio as arranged and I later heard of his death.
“I followed to his village and sang for him while he was been laid to rest in the grave and that was the day I felt an unction came on me like a transfer of grace to transform Idoma song the way he started and could not finish,” the singer recalled with nostalgia.
The name, Tom Aba made waves in the Nigerian gospel music scene from the mid-80s up to 1994 before bowing out. He was involved in both circular and gospel music after a meritorious 10 years’ service in the news and corporate departments of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Makurdi.
