Baltasar Ebang Engonga, the Director General of Equatorial Guinea’s National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF), is embroiled in a significant scandal following the discovery of hundreds of explicit videos purportedly featuring him in compromising situations.
Reports indicate that these videos include encounters with notable individuals, including his brother’s wife, his cousin, and the sister of Equatorial Guinea’s president.
The scandal came to light during a fraud investigation, during which over 300 explicit videos were found on Ebang Engonga’s computer. These recordings allegedly depict interactions with multiple women, some of whom are married. The footage, discovered in his personal office, was reportedly recorded with consent but has since leaked online, triggering a media firestorm.
In response to the scandal, Equatorial Guinea’s Vice President, Teodoro Nguema, issued a public statement on X (formerly Twitter), condemning inappropriate conduct within government offices. He emphasized that sexual relations are strictly prohibited in administrative workplaces and warned of consequences for any violations.
“Given the abuse that has been shown on social media in Equatorial Guinea in recent days, and remembering that ministries are solely and exclusively for carrying out administrative work in support of the country’s development, sexual relations in offices are prohibited,” Nguema stated. “Control mechanisms are already in place, and anyone who violates this rule again will be subject to disciplinary proceedings for indecent conduct and will be dismissed from their job.”
Baltasar Ebang Engonga is the head of ANIF, where he oversees financial investigations and manages efforts to combat financial corruption in Equatorial Guinea.
Married and a father of six, Ebang Engonga has held a significant position within the agency, which plays a crucial role in maintaining the nation’s financial transparency and regulatory framework.
