Monday Okpebholo was born in the Udomi-Uwessan community of Irrua. He attended Udomi Community Primary School and Ujabhole Community Secondary School in Uwesan Irrua, Esan Central LGA. After completing his secondary education in Jos, Plateau State, he pursued higher education, earning a degree in Business Administration from the University of Abuja. He furthered his studies with a Master’s degree in Policy and Leadership Studies from the same institution.
Political Journey
Okpebholo began his political career by contesting for the Senate seat in the Edo Central senatorial district under the All Progressives Congress (APC). He was elected on February 25, 2023, and was inaugurated into the 10th National Assembly on June 13, 2023. His political aspirations continued, and in February 2024, he won the APC gubernatorial primary election for Edo State.
During his campaign for governor, he faced legal challenges, including a summons by Magistrates’ Court over allegations of falsifying his date of birth on his INEC voter card and a WAEC certificate. Despite these controversies, he gained significant support, including an endorsement from Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie, who highlighted the need for better public services in Edo State.

Okpebholo is the Governor-elect of Edo State, poised to lead the state under the APC banner.
Monday Okpebholo is married to Blessing Okpapi Ekpe, and they have two children together. He is a devout Christian and an active member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, demonstrating his commitment to both faith and family alongside his political career.
