Elders of the Tiv nation from Benue State have urged the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC)to look at Senator George Akume’s aspiration to lead the 8th National Assembly as reward for hard-work and incorruptibility.

They appealed to the APC leadership to maintain their earlier stand on the zoning of the Senate President seat to the North-Central zone and deputy to the North-East.

Leader of the elders, Chief Iorapuu Amile who spoke on behalf of the elders after a meeting held in Gboko, Gboko local government area of the state said it was necessary to drum support for Akume.
According to him, Akume when compared with others jostling for the seat has the best leadership quality to compliment the President-elect Muhammadu Buhari in curbing the menace of corruption and insecurity bedeviling the nation.

He said, “We appeal to the leadership of the APC and distinguished Senators-elect to look at Sen. George Akume on his personal incorruptible merits and his immense contributions to the party as well as goodwill to the people.

“We also called on Nigerians to stand up for him (Akume) in the same manner they stood up for General Buhari to defeat an incumbent against all odds”.
