Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has secured the approval of the House of Assembly to get a N40 billion bond to execute projects and clear arrears of salaries.
The Governor who made this known on Tuesday while interacting with the media at the Benue People’s House, Makurdi said the process to get the bond would soon be completed.
He said apart from the bond, the United Bank for Africa, UBA has made available N3.5 billion to the Government which has been channeled to rehabilitate of township roads in Makurdi, Gboko, Katsina Ala and Otukpo.
The Governor said the money has also been channeled to completion of rural electrification projects as well as rural roads which include Oshigbudu-Obagaji, Wannune-Igbor, and the Zaki biam-afiagh which he said would soon be commissioned.
Governor Ortom explained that Local Governments’ staff were paid only one month from the last tranche of the Paris Club refund because N3.3 billion out of the money was deducted at source and paid to UBEC as counterpart fund.
According to the Governor, the account of the Government would soon be credited with N6.6 six billion to continue with the rehabilitation of primary schools.
Governor Ortom maintained that once resources are available after backlog of salaries have been cleared and other critical infrastructure fixed.
