Tever Akase, the media aide to Benue State governor has explained why Academic Staff Union of University, ASUU, Benue State University chapter is currently indefinite strike.
Akase why clearing the air on the controversy surrounding the strike, said the ongoing action is not connected with payment of salaries.

Academic Staff Union of University, ASUU, Benue State University chapter has embarked on indefinite strike.
He wrote, “Permit me not to comment on the BSU ASUU strike but only make an observation to agree with you that BSU generates huge internal revenue. The truth however is that the funds from BSU revenue don’t come to the Benue State Government. By the revenue laws of the state, the university is required to remit 25% of their revenue to BIRS while retaining 75% for its running, but this does not happen. Over the years, BSU has been generating revenue and spending 100% of it.
“Yet, the State Government still pays salaries up to date and Governor Ortom has also been paying BSU their earned allowances as they demanded. The reason for the current strike is about arrears of allowances of the years which the previous government refused to pay but which the present administration has agreed to pay soon.”
