During the PDP North Central Zone leadership meeting on Wednesday, Senator Dino Melaye, the gubernatorial candidate for Kogi State in the 2023 elections, was involved in a heated altercation with former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom.
Melaye took to his social media platform the following day to explain that the clash arose from Ortom’s endorsement of President Bola Tinubu from the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 elections.
Melaye expressed his surprise at Ortom’s presence at a PDP gathering despite openly declaring support for Tinubu.
He retweeted a video of the altercation, originally posted by a user named #iamhistory_, where Melaye was seen confronting Ortom, accusing him of being shameless and deserving of disciplinary action for his apparent anti-party stance.
The video caption detailed the confrontation, highlighting Melaye’s astonishment at Ortom’s audacity to attend a PDP event after siding with another party. Ortom was reportedly taken aback and remained silent in response to Melaye’s remarks.
IDOMA VOICE recalls Ortom’s remarks regarding the G5, a group of former PDP governors, allegedly planning to back Tinubu for a second term in 2027.
