Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Hassan A. Saleh, has officially resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), drawing the curtain on a 25-year political journey with the party.

In a resignation letter dated July 2, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman in Aiono Ward 2, Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State, Saleh pointed to persistent internal crises and what he described as an “irretracable downward spiral” within the party as reasons for his exit.

“You are aware of my loyalty and dedication to the PDP since I joined party politics 25 years ago,” Saleh wrote in the letter.

“Despite all the shenanigans that occurred during these 25 years of my sojourn in the PDP, I have remained loyal… and even expended substantial part of my hard-earned resources and time in building the party at both the local level as well as in the State,” he added.

The two-term lawmaker, who represented Ado/Ogbadibo/Okpokwu Federal Constituency in the 7th and 8th National Assembly, expressed disappointment over the party’s inability to resolve lingering internal disputes in the past two years, stating that the PDP had arrived at a crossroads.

Saleh noted that the decision to leave was not made lightly, but followed “deep reflection and consultation with family and associates.”
