Bayer Leverkusen’s Granit Xhaka has opened up about his decision to leave the Premier League and join the Bundesliga champions after spending seven years at Arsenal.
Xhaka, who completed a £21 million transfer this summer, disclosed that he did not want to play against Arsenal and that it was not an easy decision to leave the club.
Addressing the speculations about his departure, Xhaka clarified that it had nothing to do with his wife’s happiness in England, as previously rumored.
The Swiss midfielder expressed gratitude for the love and respect he received from Arsenal’s Edu and Arteta but emphasized that he was seeking a new challenge, which he found in Bayer Leverkusen.
