Renowned Nigerian actor and filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has shared the heartfelt reason behind his reconciliation with his younger brother, Aremu Afolayan, after years of estrangement.
The brothers, both sons of the late legendary filmmaker Ade Love, had been at odds for years, with their feud becoming public in 2018 after Aremu claimed their father lived in poverty despite his fame. Kunle’s sharp response at the time only deepened the rift, but their mother’s wake-keep ceremony in Oyo State on November 22, 2024, became a turning point.
Speaking at the event, Kunle reflected on his role in Aremu’s life, describing himself as more than just a brother. “I am not his brother but his father. I trained him and am 10 years older than him,” Kunle explained, emphasizing that love ultimately brought them back together despite external pressures.
In an emotional apology, Aremu admitted his past mistakes and credited their late mother’s prayers for their reconciliation. “My greatest joy today is that my mother made us talk. I’m sorry for the Instagram backlash I caused Kunle—it was because I love him,” Aremu said.
The reunion marked a significant moment for the Afolayan family, bringing closure to a longstanding feud and honoring their mother’s legacy of unity.
