The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has revealed why he doesn’t take Holy Communion in some churches.
Holy Communion or Lord’s Supper, in Christianity, ritual commemoration of Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples, at which (according to tradition) he gave them bread with the words, “This is my body,” and wine with the words, “This is my blood.”
Adeboye made this clear in the Open Heavens devotional entitled Follow the Instructions.
He gave an instance about why he rejects Holy Communion in some churches he visits for ministrations. Before Jesus Christ was crucified, he called his disciples and they are their ‘last supper’ together, a practice we still observe today because Jesus said it shouldn’t be stopped.
Adeboye said he politely declines the Holy Communion in churches when it is served in the morning or afternoon because the bible clearly states that it should be served in the evening as it is a ‘supper’.
Adeboye believes the instructions for the Holy Communion (taken in the evening) should be followed to the latter if the benefits are to be gotten.
