Contrary to a report in the Benue State owned newspaper, The Voice that the vice-chairman and former Technical Adviser of Lobi Stars, Mr. Dominic Iorfa was pressurised into hiring a Chief Coach for the club, the ex-international has said he voluntarily relinquished the post in order to concentrate on administrative matters.
In a telephone interview with Daily Trust yesterday, Iorfa said the said report was written in bad taste by someone who has never wished him well and has refused to see anything good in what he is doing for the club.
He said his achievements with Lobi Stars which culminated into his emergence as the Manager of the Year at the end of the 2011/2012 league season clearly showed that he is competent enough to handle even the national teams.
Iorfa reiterated that by appointing a coach, he only wants to have enough time to face the challenges that come with over-seeing the affairs of a big club like Lobi Stars.
He maintained that he is not disturbed by the said report because it is not premised on objectivity and facts but unfounded malice.
When contacted, Mr. Chris Atsaka, the writer of the story denied ever taking his problems to Iorfa as he said he would never descend so low to blackmail anyone for any favour.
“The story was not meant to spite anyone. I only commended Iorfa for listening to my advice. If he is saying I beg him for favours, it is not true. By all means I am comfortable and I cannot go begging”, he said.
