Why I shouted at Harry Maguire – Onana

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana showcased his fiery spirit as he passionately expressed his expectations to teammate Harry Maguire. Despite their 3-2 defeat, Onana clarified that his vocal display was not a sign of discord but rather a testament to his unwavering commitment to excellence.

As the match unfolded, Manchester United found themselves trailing 2-1 against the formidable Bundesliga runners-up. It was at this crucial moment that Onana, driven by his deep desire to see the team succeed, couldn’t contain his emotions when Maguire opted for a short pass to Christian Eriksen. The decision led to a Dortmund chance, brilliantly saved by the agile keeper.

Speaking to MUTV after the game, Onana shed light on the motivation behind his fervent outburst, explaining that he holds his defensive line to high standards because he truly believes in their abilities. Emphasizing the camaraderie and mutual respect within the squad, Onana expressed his pride in playing alongside defenders like Lisandro Martinez and the captain, Harry Maguire.

“For me, it’s a big honor to play with these defenders. They are great players, and I demand a lot from them because they are capable of extraordinary things on the field,” Onana said with conviction. “Lisandro, Harry – they’re doing great things. They are vital players for the club, and I’m thrilled to be part of this team, fighting alongside them in pursuit of greatness.”
