Why I’m not serving under Tinubu govt – Fashola

Former Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), has expressed his commitment to serving in the President Bola Tinubu-led administration without the need for a formal title or appointment. Fashola, who is a close associate of Tinubu, made these remarks during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the Lagos State University, Ojo.

He was at the university to deliver a keynote address at its fifth research and innovation fair. When asked about his role in the current federal administration and the possibility of receiving an appointment, Fashola emphasized his dedication to service and his belief in the need for all citizens to contribute to the nation.

Fashola stated, “I do not need a title to serve. The president can only appoint at least one minister from each state, which he has already done. There are limited positions in parastatals, and considering our population of 200 million, there are not enough offices to accommodate everyone.”

He emphasized that every citizen should play their role in contributing to the country’s progress and that titles or appointments were not prerequisites for service. Fashola also stressed the importance of involving more public-spirited individuals, including youth, in leadership roles as the nation evolves.

He expressed his anticipation of seeing more young people actively participating in the administration, highlighting the need for a diverse range of individuals to contribute to the development and leadership of the country.
