Various efforts have surfaced in the past few years that have tried to broadened digital transactions and payments in Nigeria, but none has been so ingenious as the raft of innovations introduced by Unified Payments (UP) under its PayAttitude digital transaction offerings. Dubbed the ¨new payment remote control,¨ the PayAttitude platform gives subscribers more options to conduct electronic transactions via their mobile phones.
With the PayAttitude app downloaded and installed on their phones, users can perform several electronic transactions on their various bank accounts linked to the app. They can, for instance, request for payment or transfer from family and friends using just a phone number, just as they receive and securely authorize payment or transfer request from friends and family. The ease and convenience inherent in the PayAttitude platform is epitomised by users´ ability to send friends, family and staff to withdraw cash at the ATM with just a phone number. Besides, the new digital payment platform allows its users to perform highly secure online transactions with their phone number and a six-digit PIN.
Information provided on the platfor’s website, elaborate on its three flagship products, namely PayAttitude Digital, PayAttitude Digital Collection Solution and PayAttitude Corporate.
¨PayAttitude Digital is the first and only multibank USSD and App for POS, ATM, Web and person-to-person transactions with just phone number,¨ the statement explains.
The site explains further: ¨Accounts can be linked or created by simply downloading PayAttitude Digital app from the app store or by dialling *569# (USSD). Subscribers can conveniently and securely carry out transactions by themselves or through family, friends and staff by simply entering the subscriber’s telephone number at POS, ATM, Web or Mobile device. The subscriber is then located and requested to authorize transactions by entering their 6-digit PIN on their personal devices.¨
The second product of the platform, PayAttitude Digital Collection Solution, enables membership associations or organizations, such as clubs and worship organizations, to collect contributions, dues, offerings or donations from their members using mobile phones. All it takes is to input members’ mobile numbers and they receive notifications on their mobile phones to authorize the transaction and the collector is credited immediately.
The third product, PayAttitude Corporate, is an end-to-end secure and convenient payment solution that provides corporate organizations with the ability to ¨make payments to the unbanked population through the creation of prepaid accounts and authorize bulk payments all with phone number.¨
With PayAttitude Corporate, holders of prepaid accounts can make cash payment or withdrawals at ATM or Agent locations using their phone numbers in addition to the use of the mobile app or USSD function.
John Adele, a satisfied customer who runs a betting shop and laundry service in the Iponri, Surulere area of Lagos, has been using the PayAttitude service since its rollout. ¨What I found most ingenious is the fact that you can use your phone as a POS,¨ he says.
Speaking further, he avers: ¨I no longer have to incur unnecessary charges anytime I use a POS because the PayAttitude Digital app on my phone works like POS minus the usual charges.¨
Another customer of the platform, Deborah Maina also avows: ¨It gladdens my mind that with my phone, I can approve online transactions and ATM cash withdrawals from anywhere and also get detailed digital receipts for every transactions.¨
The platform is most commended for its utility and coverage of broad areas of transaction and payment including Consumer-to-Business (C2B), Peer-to-Peer (P2P) and Government-to-People (G2P).
