It is no longer news that the All Progressives Congress presidential rally earlier planned to hold in Makurdi tomorrow 26th January 2023 has been suspended indefinitely.
Insider sources have revealed that the sudden postponement of the Makurdi rally came as a result of the Appeal Court judgment on Monday which cancelled the direct primaries conducted by the APC in the state last year which produced Hyacinth Alia in controversial circumstances. The Appeal Court sacked Alia and thereby rendered the APC without a gubernatorial candidate in Benue State.
The above situation has put the party in a terrible situation because as it is now, the former priest cannot parade himself as governorship candidate of the party. He is the state coordinator of the Muslim-Muslim ticket of Tinubu/Shetima and he was supposed to be presented with the party’s flag during the Makurdi rally. That won’t happen again because presenting Alia with the APC flag will amount to disobeying the judgment of the Appeal Court which ordered for a re-run election in 11 local government areas of Benue state.
The contumacious man and the APC are now caught between the devil and the deep blue sea. He is in a hollow pit that getting out is as difficult as remaining there.

Another gist making the rounds is that Bola Tinubu sent N2000 million to the leader of APC in Benue state George Akume to plan the APC Makurdi presidential rally but the funds have been misappropriated. Unconfirmed reports have it that Tinubu was very upset over the development and called off the visit which was already marred by the Appeal Court judgment of Monday.
APC is in shambles in Benue State. Many of the party’s supporters are regretting why they invested their time and emotions into a project that was set to fail from day one.
