Socio-political activist Reno Omokri has asserted that the recent removal of Governor Abba Yusuf in Kano State has paved the way for the certain re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. The basis for this claim stems from the Appeal Court’s ruling, which declared Governor Yusuf ineligible to contest the seat due to his non-membership in the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) at the time of the elections.
As reported by DAILY POST, the court upheld the position of the governorship election tribunal, emphasizing that Governor Yusuf was not qualified to participate in the elections. Omokri contends that this development enhances Tinubu’s prospects for re-election.
In a statement, Omokri highlighted the significance of Kano State, which boasts the highest registered voters in the country. He estimated that Kano could contribute at least two million votes to presidential candidates in 2027, making the governor’s role crucial in directing those votes.
“The sacking of Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano by the Court of Appeals has made Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 more certain,” Omokri declared. He went on to suggest that smaller political parties, such as the NNPP and Labour Party, should consider merging with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to strengthen their position against Tinubu.
