Why we sealed Benue APC secretariat – Police write Austin Agada

The Benue Police Command intervened by halting a scheduled Benue APC SEC meeting and sealing off the party’s secretariat in Makurdi amid escalating tensions.

Led by Comrade Austin Agada, the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting and APC stakeholders’ gathering slated for Friday were disrupted as a detachment of mobile and regular police operatives, alongside members of the Civil Defence Corps and Livestock Guards, blocked access to the secretariat.

Operational vehicles were deployed to obstruct all routes leading to the secretariat, with APC youths aligned with one faction of the party redirecting traffic and preventing individuals from reaching the venue.

In a letter addressed to the APC chairman Comrade Austin Agada, the Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Adesina declared: ” The State Executive Council meeting and all kinds of political meeting be suspended till further notice.”

The letter signed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police , DCP, Samuel Gimba said the SEC meeting must be suspended based on a directive from Governor Hyacinth Alia suspending all forms of political meetings and gathering in the state.

The decision, according to police, is due to volatile security atmosphere in Benue
