Benue State government has declared that Covid-19 vaccination to the people should be voluntary.
Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mrs. Ngunan Adingi, who disclosed this during a media briefing at the end of the state executive council meeting held at Government House, Makurdi, said every arrangement has been put in place to commence the exercise Thursday, at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital Makurdi and added that 75,000 doses of the vaccine have been received ready for administration.
Also speaking, commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Joseph Ngbea, told journalists that government has put in place adequate arrangement including rapid response mechanisms to cases of those that would react as a result of the vaccination and encouraged members of the public not to be afraid.
Dr. Ngbea, dissuaded fears from members of the Public that the vaccine will have adverse effect on them and argued that every vaccine has its side-effect.
The commissioner further assured that his has set up a team of experts who have prepared questionnaires to administer on those who would take the vaccine to ascertain their reactions to enable officials take appropriate actions.
