Wigwe father denies claims of family dispute over late son’s estate

Pastor Shyngle Wigwe, the father of the late Herbert Wigwe, former Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings, has dismissed rumors of a family dispute regarding his son’s estate.

Reports circulating online claimed that Wigwe’s parents had filed a caveat at the Probate Registry to contest the distribution of the late CEO’s assets as specified in his will.

This legal action was allegedly initiated under Pastor Shyngle’s direction and supported by an affidavit from Christian Chukwuka Wigwe, who identifies as Herbert’s cousin. The caveat reportedly aimed to challenge the directives established by Herbert concerning the management of his estate.

Furthermore, the claims suggested that Pastor Shyngle sought 20 percent of Herbert’s estate for himself and other family members, a demand that purportedly contradicts the provisions of Herbert’s will.

In response, Pastor Shyngle issued a statement on Tuesday, signed by family representative Emeka Wigwe, categorically refuting these allegations. He emphasized that neither he nor any family member had requested 20 percent of Herbert’s estate.

He urged media outlets to correct the inaccuracies in their reports and to be more diligent in fact-checking future stories. The family remains united, concentrating on healing and supporting one another during this difficult time.

The statement read, “We, the family of Pastor Shyngle Wigwe, wish to address a recent article titled ‘Family Dispute Erupts Over Estate of Late Banking Executive Herbert Wigwe’ published on October 13, 2024. This article has unfortunately gained traction across social and national media. While we acknowledge the press’s role in disseminating news, it is crucial that such reports are rooted in truth and accuracy.

“To clarify, at no point has Pastor Shyngle Wigwe requested 20 percent of the estate of the late Herbert Wigwe. Similarly, no other family members have made such a request. The claim that this demand contradicts Herbert’s will is entirely false and misleading. The facts regarding the estate are publicly accessible in the Probate Registry, where an affidavit outlines the correct details. A simple search by your reporters would have clarified this.
