There are indications that Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike may have agreed to work for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in 2023.

IDOMA VOICE reports that Wike had a secret meeting with some governors elected on the platform of the APC in his private residence in Port Harcourt on Friday.

In attendance were Governors of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ekiti State who also doubles Chairman Nigeria Governors Forum, Kayode Fayemi and his Ondo State counterpart, Rotimi Akeredolu.

Wike was also joined by the former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose to welcome the governors.

Although details of the meeting have not been revealed, but a source hinted IDOMA VOICE that the Rivers State number one citizen may have agreed to work for the APC in 2023.

According to the source, Wike may not decamp to the APC but may deliver Rivers for Tinubu’s APC in 2023.

The development came following the refusal of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to pick Wike as his running mate.

PDP leadership had suggested Wike as Atiku’s running mate, but the latter settled for Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State as his deputy.

The development, IDOMA VOICE recalls has triggered anger among party leaders including Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom.
