The Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, alongside security operatives, has uncovered an illicit oil refining facility in Mabushi, Abuja.
The revelation came to light during a clamp-down operation conducted on Thursday, as disclosed by Mukhtar Galadima, the Director of the Department of Development Control in the Federal Capital Territory Administration.
Galadima revealed that an area spanning three to four plots of land, originally designated for commercial purposes, had been transformed into an illegal site where oil and diesel were being adulterated. The adulterated products were then circulated to other parts of the city.
Emphasizing the commitment to addressing unauthorized activities in the nation’s capital, particularly through the revocation of titles, Galadima stated, “During the continuation of our city sanitation exercise in Mabushi opposite the Mobil filling station on Ahmadu Way, we discovered an illegal refining site where oil and diesel are being adulterated; we have done the needful by moving the items to Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.”
He further explained that the administration would take a firm stance on such activities without government approval and would consider legal provisions to make necessary recommendations to the FCT Administration.
