Wizkid, Davido clash over new music releases
The long-standing rivalry between Afrobeats stars Ayodeji Balogun, known as Wizkid, and David Adeleke, a.k.a. Davido, has flared up once again.
The latest conflict arose on Tuesday when Davido shared a snippet of his upcoming single for 2024. Coincidentally, Wizkid was also set to release the first track from his highly anticipated “Morayo” album.
Tensions escalated when Davido’s associate, Kayode Yajaur, known as Black Tycoone, appeared to mock Wizkid over the delay in his album’s release, tweeting, “Tell your Daddy to drop an album already.”
Wizkid, unfazed, took to X (formerly Twitter) to take a dig at Davido’s camp, stating, “P***y boys dropping mid again,” followed by, “Una don tire! Make una go rest small!” Although he did not name Davido directly, fans quickly interpreted the comment as a jab at the ‘Fem’ singer.
In defense of Davido, one fan accused Wizkid of leveraging their rivalry for attention, tweeting, “So if you no beef @davido, your song won’t sell?”
Wizkid promptly denied clout-chasing while criticizing Davido’s talent. “I don’t beef wack niggas! We all know he’s wack! No talent!” he shot back.
Wizkid continued his tirade, dismissing Davido’s discography as “trash” and boasting about his own superior output. “80 trash! We got 80 albums for any song y’all drop! P***y boys!” he added.
Despite the heated exchange, Davido has chosen to remain silent, refraining from publicly engaging in the ongoing feud. This latest clash comes just months after a similar altercation in May, where Wizkid mocked both Davido and Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy.
