The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has launched an investigation into a fatal train accident that claimed the life of an unidentified woman along the Gwagwa-Idu railway line in Abuja.
FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday, disclosing that authorities were alerted through a distress call at approximately 11 a.m. on March 24, 2025.
Responding swiftly, police officers arrived at the scene near Zeberced Company in the Idu area, where they discovered the lifeless, disfigured body of the woman, suspected to have been hit by a moving train.
“The FCT Police Command is investigating a tragic train accident that resulted in the death of an unidentified female along the Gwagwa-Idu railway line,” the statement read.
Following the discovery, the remains were evacuated to Kubwa General Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed her death. Efforts are underway to ascertain the victim’s identity and notify her relatives.
Authorities urge anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
