Theresa Awuhe, a resident of Makurdi, Benue State, has been murdered by unidentified gunmen.
The incident occurred over the weekend as Theresa was returning home from her provisions shop near Gyado Villa, close to Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Makurdi.
Reports indicate that Theresa was returning home from her shop with relatives who had come to visit her when she was confronted and shot dead.
An eyewitness, who requested to remain anonymous, reported that Theresa, widely known as “Tessy,” was heading home around 10:00 pm with relatives who had visited her at the shop when the armed men targeted her and shot her three times.
“She passed through a short path when someone appeared from nowhere with a pistol and shot her from behind, another one appeared in her front.
“The other two women, one of them had a baby, took to their heels.
“She fell down and shouted Jesus and her killers shot again, then went close and shot her on the head.
“It is a clear case of assassination. No money or handset was taken from her and the gunmen walked away freely.”
Upon being contacted, SP Catherine Anene, the Benue State Command Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident.
