Women storm National Assembly, protest over rejected bills
Some Nigerian Women, led by civil society groups, on Wednesday stormed the National Assembly to express their anger over the rejection of women-related bills at the plenary session on Tuesday.
About five bills seeking to give women more opportunities in governance were rejected during the plenary.
One of such bills sought to give at least ten slots to women as ministers and commissioners in the federal and state governments.
The Minority Leader of the Senate, who attended to the protesters at the gate of the National Assembly, called for calm as he urged the women to get the voting records to know who voted against them.
