Governor Ortom during the meeting held at the New Banquet Hall of Benue Peoples House Makurdi, cautioned against any action that could impede the work, stressing that he would as well, not allow his people to be shortchanged in any way.
The Governor expressed confidence in the position of the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing to commence payment of compensation to deserving persons from next week, saying work should resume as soon as possible and he should be properly briefed on any challenge concerning the compensation.
Earlier, Director Roads Sector Department Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Ishaq Mohammed explained that the dualisation was suspended following pressure from the host communities over issues of compensation which snowballed into threats from some youths.
Tor Lobi, Chief Moses Anagende in a remark, said the host communities were always given promises of compensation that never came, saying the people became frustrated and decided that work on the road should stop for compensation to be paid to the beneficiaries.
