World Youth Day: Hon. Alex Ogbe Enokela calls for youth empowerment

By: Chief Udeh Adole

Hon. Alex Ogbe Enokela, a front line contender for the Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency in the Nation’s House of Representatives and a dogged youth advocate has called on government to invest more in youth empowerment.

The erudite youth mobilizer and philanthropist stated this on the occasion of the 2021 WORLD YOUTH DAY.

He said government investment in youth development has been a far cry from world best practices and grossly inadequate.

On youth empowerment, Hon. Alex Ogbe said it is not just inappropriate but an act of wickedness against humanity to turn the youth into thugs and political tools.

He said although he is not in any government office yet, he has through the support of King Mohammed Adah and OCHACHO FOUNDATION initiated varieties of youth empowerment programmes which has and will produce hundreds of youth entrepreneurs in the nearest future. He urged all youths in Otukpo/Ohimini to be ready to learn skills that will make them global participants.

International Youth Day 2021 is observed on 12 August every year.

International Youth Day is an awareness day designated by the United Nations to draw attention to a given set of cultural and legal issues surrounding youth. The first International Youth Day was observed on 12 August, 2000.

The theme of the International Youth Day 2021 is, “Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health”, with the aim of highlighting that the success of such a global effort will not be achieved without the meaningful participation of young people.
