Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, has hailed the emergence of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, as the new Director-General of World Trade Organization (WTO).
Recall that Okonjo-Iweala was announced as the new DG of WTO, the first African and woman to attain such feat.
Ortom said the historic emergence of Okonjo-Iweala, who was Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, as WTO boss is a testament to her impeccable record of public service at national and international levels.
Ortom’s congratulatory message was contained in a statement issued on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase.
He expressed confidence in the ability of the former Nigeria’s Minister of Finance to bring her wealth of experience to bear on her stewardship of the World Trade Organization.
Governor Ortom wished Dr Okonjo-Iweala a successful tenure.
