Yoruba added to Maryland Learner’s Permit Test languages in US expansion

The United States of America has expanded the language options available for the Maryland Learner’s Permit Tests, with Yoruba now included among them.

Yoruba language joins nine other new languages that will be offered in the Maryland Learner’s Permit Tests.

Starting this month, drivers can opt for their learner’s permit tests in a range of languages, including Tagalog, Amharic, Arabic, Russian, Urdu, Hindi, Farsi, Portuguese, and American Sign Language, in addition to Yoruba.

Chrissy Nizer, an administrator at the Motor Vehicle Agency in Maryland, USA, stated that these language selections were made based on data from the US census.

Nizer emphasized the importance of enhancing accessibility to the driver’s knowledge test and study materials to better serve Maryland’s diverse linguistic population.

Previously, the tests and study manuals were available in English, Spanish, French, Korean, traditional Chinese, and Vietnamese, according to CBS News.
