Yoruba veteran actor, Tafa Oloyede buried in Osun

The body of the late Yoruba actor, John Adewuni (popularly called Tafa Oloyede) has been laid to rest in his home town of Ede, Osun on Friday.

Adewuni died at his residence in Osogbo on February 1, at the age of 69.

The veteran actor, who came into the limelight in 1974 under the tutelage of the late theatre icon, Oyin Adejobi, had featured in several movies, including Akanji Oniposi, Jaiyesimi, Ayanmo, Orogun and Ekuro Oloja, among others.

At the funeral and thanksgiving service organised at Iroyin Ayo Baptist Church, Iseki Akala, Ede, the presiding pastor, Rev. Gbenga Olorode, said the lives of human beings on earth are very short.

Taking his sermon from the book of Job chapter 14 verse 1-6, Olorode said every man born of a woman has very few years to live, while urging all to make their way straight with God while still living.

Olorode said that the late John Adewuni had lived and gone to answer for his deeds before God, saying those alive have the opportunity to correct their ways.

The cleric admonished the people to repent from anything that would cost them eternal rest with God.

He also advised the youth to desist from chasing money or material things alone but turn to God and make their ways straight so as to be justify in heaven.

He urged the family of late Adewuni to unite and operate in love and maintain whatever property the actor might have left behind.

NAN reports that Adewuni’s body was finally laid in grave and burial at 3:25p.m, at the Iroyin Ayo Baptist Church cemetery, with his family and friends biding him farewell.
