The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State commends His Excellency, Governor Samuel Ortom, for tirelessly and selflessly leading the state in the efforts to keep it safe from the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The party is satisfied that the Governor has maintained the highest standards of transparency in the fight against the pandemic so far, beginning with his constitution of the high-powered State Action Committee on COVID-19.
Benue PDP acknowledges that under the Chairmsnship of the Deputy Governor, Engr. Benson Abounu, the Committee has been most proactive in implementing measures designed to curb the entry and spread of the virus in the state.
Our gratitude is to God Almighty that today there has been only an index case recorded in the state on a returnee from the United Kingdom, and we commend the Action Committee’s adherence to the established protocols which has to this day kept the state free of the virus.
The party commends the very courageous step taken by Governor Ortom in voluntarily having himself and his Deputy, Engr. Abounu, tested for the virus, this being a mark of leadership by example.
We celebrate the negative result returned from the tests on both the governor and his deputy and it is our prayer to God Almighty that Benue State, which was dedicated to Him, will remain COVID-19 free.
It is our appeal to the good people of the state to observe the safely and preventive measures put in place by government and to keep faith with the Ortom administration so together we may win the war against COVID-19.
