‘You are not alone in this time of sorrow’ – Govs’ Forum mourns victims of Benue attacks

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has strongly condemned the recent attacks on Yelewata and Daudu communities in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, describing them as a grave assault on human dignity.

In a statement issued on Monday by the NGF Chairman and Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the forum expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and called for collective condemnation of the heinous act.

“The Nigeria Governors’ Forum stands in unwavering solidarity with the bereaved families and the Benue State Government during this time of profound grief,” the statement read. “We pray for the peaceful repose of the departed souls, divine comfort for grieving families, speedy recovery for the injured, and strength for the survivors.”

The forum assured of its commitment to supporting Benue State and working with relevant authorities to restore peace and security in the affected areas.

It also called on all Nigerians, regardless of religion or background, to reject such violence and unite in building a nation founded on peace, justice, and mutual respect.

The NGF extended heartfelt condolences to Governor Hyacinth Alia, the government, and the people of Benue State over the tragic incident.
